Our Story

For most of my life, I lived by default. I reacted to whatever came at me: stress, relationships, decisions. All without a framework for any of it. I wasn't lost, exactly. I just didn't have a compass.

That changed when I found Stoicism. Not the pop-culture version, not “don't feel things,” but the real practice. Marcus Aurelius writing to himself at the edge of an empire. Epictetus teaching that the only thing truly ours is how we respond. Seneca reminding us that life is long enough if we stop wasting it. I started journaling. I started defining what I actually valued, not what I'd inherited or absorbed. I wrote my first Ethos, a set of principles I could measure my days against.

Twenty years later, that practice has shaped every meaningful decision I've made. But I noticed something: there was no tool built for this. Journaling apps tracked mood. Meditation apps tracked minutes. Nothing helped you build a personal philosophy and then actually live by it.

Know Your Ethos

So I built Know Your Ethos. It's the tool I wished I had when I started: a place to speak your thoughts and have an AI (your daimon) reflect back who you're becoming. Not generic advice. Not affirmations. A mirror grounded in your own values, your own words, your own patterns.

Most people never define what they stand for. They live by default. This app exists so you don't have to.
