Know Your Ethos
KnowYourEthos

See the gap between who you want to be and how you actually live.

Most of us know what we believe. Our habits don’t always agree. Know Your Ethos helps you name what matters to you, then shows you where your days match it and where they don’t.

Free to start. No card needed. On iPhone, Android, or in your browser.

The Ethos tab in Know Your Ethos: the virtues, values and characteristics a person chose, each word beside its virtue, and their ethos statement.

How it works

Three steps. A few minutes a day.

  1. Step 1

    Name what matters

Pick the values you make time for, the virtues you want to live by, and the person you want others to meet.

Your ethos on the Know Your Ethos home screen: the virtues, values and characteristics a person named, and how they live them.
  2. Step 2

    Live your days

Short check-ins, your journal, and a few honest tests show how you really act. Speak or type. A check-in takes about two minutes.

A daily check-in card in the Know Your Ethos app: one short question, answered with a tap.
  3. Step 3

    See the gap

See where your habits match your beliefs and where they don’t. Pick one virtue to practice this week. Then check in again.

Virtue test results in the Know Your Ethos app. Most balanced: Honesty and Care. Growth edge: a day without progress feels wasted.

Meet your Daimon

The old Greeks used the word daimon for the inner voice that knows what you could become. In Know Your Ethos, the Daimon reads your own words and shows you what keeps coming up.

It is a mirror. It does not give orders or advice.

A reflection in Know Your Ethos: a person writes about checking their phone with their kids, and the Daimon reflects their words back.

Built on 2,000 years of thinking about the good life

From Aristotle to the Stoics and beyond. The ten virtues in Know Your Ethos come from many traditions, so the list has room for what you already believe.

You read about the good life. Know Your Ethos helps you see how you live it.
